National Scholastic Skateboarding League (NSSL) celebrates its riders with an awards night and fundraising dinner at Hurley HQ in Costa Mesa on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. School skate team riders and coaches can attend for free, all others entrance costs $25 or 5 for $100. First made by small, independent cobblers in and around Palm Beach, Jack Rogers put the sandal into expanded production in 1961.
